David "Doc" Fifer
He kept his promises. And he’ll keep them again. A Senior Political Science major with a minor in Criminal Justice, David “Doc” Fifer currently serves as Student Body President and the student member of the Board of Regents. As the leader of the student body, Fifer has delivered on the promises of his first campaign with stunning success.
He promised a new shuttle system, and three new buses currently operate on an improved express schedule. He promised a safety foot path, and ground was recently broken on the Colonel Path, which connects campus with Richmond’s Main Street. He’s secured student representation on key City Commissions, established Graduate and Non-Tradition student councils, set up a police ride-along program, and set aside money for the Diversity Grant Fund. The Student Government Association has become more effective and efficient under his leadership, winning praise from administrators, faculty, students, and alumni.
With years of experience in student government, Fifer has emerged as a respected student leader, often consulted by administrators and local officials on a wide variety of issues. A member of more than a dozen committees and working groups over the past three years, Fifer is one of the most accomplished members of SGA.
Of particular pride to Doc is his work on improving the relationship between the student body and the larger Richmond community. From frequent meetings with city officials and police department leaders to his position as a member of the Board of Directors of the Richmond Chamber of Commerce, Fifer has built relationships that will benefit the student body for years to come.
